If you are a UK sponsor licence holder who has used up your annual Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) allocation — or needs to make an urgent change to your licence — the Home Office Priority Service may be exactly what you need. In this guide, we explain what the Priority Service is, who qualifies, how the process works, and how Visa Solutions can handle the entire submission on your behalf at no upfront cost.

What Is the Home Office Priority Service for Sponsors?
The Home Office Priority Service — officially known as the Worker and Temporary Worker Priority Change of Circumstances Service — is an official route that allows A-rated sponsor licence holders to request faster consideration of certain changes to their licence or CoS allocation.
Without the Priority Service, requests submitted through the Sponsor Management System (SMS) can take up to 18 weeks to be processed. The Priority Service is designed to fast-track eligible requests, with decisions typically considered within 5 working days of Home Office payment.
This service is not a guaranteed approval — the Home Office still assesses each request on its merits and within daily processing limits. However, it significantly speeds up the timeline compared to the standard route.
Who Is Eligible for the Priority Service?
To use the Priority Service, you must meet all of the following conditions:
You must be an A-rated Worker or Temporary Worker sponsor with a fully active licence
You must have already submitted your change request via the Sponsor Management System (SMS) before contacting the Priority Service team
The request must not already be in progress or allocated to a caseworker
If requesting additional CoS, they must be for undefined CoS only — defined CoS requests will be rejected by UKVI without refund
If your request involves replacing the Authorising Officer or appointing a representative, you must have printed and completed the submission sheet from the Home Office website
What Types of Requests Can Be Fast-Tracked?
The Priority Service covers a wide range of sponsor licence changes, not just CoS allocation. Eligible request types include:
In-year CoS allocation — additional CoS requested mid-year when your annual allocation has run out
Annual CoS allocation — renewal of your yearly CoS allocation
Adding a new Level 1 user
Changing Level 1 user details
Replacing the Authorising Officer (AO)
Amending the Authorising Officer (AO)
Replacing the Key Contact (KC)
Amending the Key Contact (KC)
Appointing a representative (Change of Circumstances)
Updating organisation details — for example, if you have moved to new premises
Our main focus at Visa Solutions is in-year CoS allocation requests, helping sponsors who have used up their annual allocation get an additional top-up considered on a priority basis. However, we handle all of the request types listed above.
How Does the Priority Service Process Work?
Here is the step-by-step process from start to finish:
Step 1 — Submit your request via SMS first Before anything else, you must log into the Sponsor Management System and submit your change request through the appropriate SMS route. The Priority Service email cannot be sent before this step is completed.
Step 2 — Contact Visa Solutions Once your SMS submission is confirmed, contact us at Visa Solutions. We will ask you for your Licence Summary details, request type, and Authorising Officer information to prepare your Priority Service request form accurately.
Step 3 — We prepare and submit your request We complete the official Home Office Priority Service request form on your behalf and submit it by email to the Home Office Priority Service team the same day, along with any required supporting documents.
Step 4 — The Home Office reviews your request The Home Office Priority Service team reviews submissions daily. If your request is accepted and a priority slot is available, they will send you a Worldpay payment link for their £350 fee, which must be paid within 72 hours.
Step 5 — You pay the Home Office fee The £350 Home Office fee is paid directly by you via the Worldpay link. This fee is separate from our service fee and goes entirely to the Home Office.
Step 6 — You pay our service fee Only once the Home Office has accepted your request and sent the payment link does our £299 service fee become payable. If the Home Office does not accept your request, you owe us nothing — this is our no win, no fee commitment.
Step 7 — Your request is processed After payment of the Home Office fee, your request is typically processed within 5 working days.
What Does It Cost?
The Priority Service involves two separate fees:
Fee | Amount | When Paid | Paid To |
Home Office Priority Service fee | £350 | After acceptance, within 72 hours | Home Office (via Worldpay) |
Visa Solutions service fee | £299 | After Home Office acceptance only | Visa Solutions |
There is no upfront cost to you. Our £299 fee only applies once the Home Office has accepted your request. If your request is not accepted, you pay nothing to Visa Solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I submit the Priority Service request myself? Yes — the Home Office Priority Service is an official route open to all eligible sponsors. However, errors in the request form, incorrect information, or submitting before the SMS change has been properly recorded are common reasons for non-acceptance. Using a regulated immigration adviser reduces this risk significantly.
What happens if the Home Office rejects my Priority Service request? If the Home Office does not accept your request on a given day, you can resubmit the following day. The Priority Service team processes requests daily, and slots are limited, so persistence is often required. Our no win, no fee model means you only pay us once a slot is secured.
How long does it take to get a decision? Once the Home Office accepts your request and you pay their £350 fee, decisions are typically made within 5 working days. The time to get accepted into the Priority Service itself varies — some requests are accepted on the first day, others may take several submissions.
What information do I need to provide? We will need your Licence Summary details exactly as they appear on SMS — including your organisation name, registered address, sponsor licence number, and Authorising Officer full name. We also need to know your request type and the date you submitted it via SMS.
What if my address on SMS is different from my trading address? The Priority Service form must reflect your details exactly as they appear on the Sponsor Management System Licence Summary page. If your SMS address differs from your actual trading address, the SMS address must be used on the form.
Do I need to have already submitted via SMS before contacting you? Yes — this is a strict requirement of the Home Office Priority Service. The SMS submission must be completed before the Priority Service email can be sent. If you have not yet submitted via SMS, please do so first and then contact us.
