On May 12th, 2025, the UK government released its 'Restoring Control over the Immigration System' White Paper, proposing crucial changes to reduce net migration and tighten controls. This video, presented by UK Immigration Lawyer Sachin Sawant, breaks down all the key proposals and what they could mean for you, whether you're an existing Skilled Worker, an aspiring immigrant, or an employer. The shocking increase in the Immigration Skills Charge (ISC) and its impact on businesses. The proposed extension of the Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) qualifying period from 5 to 10 years – and whether current Skilled Workers will be affected. Why the 'Legitimate Expectation' argument is now effectively DEAD for existing visa holders. The significant changes to the Skilled Worker route, including higher skill levels (RQF Level 6) and increased salary thresholds. The stricter English language requirements for main applicants (B2) and, for the first time, adult dependants (A1, progressing to B2). The potential shortening of the popular Graduate Visa from 2 years to just 18 months. Sachin provides clear, simple explanations of these complex changes and discusses what you should do next, whether you're an individual or an employer. Don't miss out on this vital information that could shape your UK immigration journey.

About our Services in Bailiwick of Jersey

We have in-depth knowledge of United Kingdom (UK) Immigration and Nationality Laws and have very good experience in handling all the UK Immigration Applications.

The Jersey immigration rules are almost 95% the same as the UK Immigration rules with just slight variations to meet the needs of the Island. As compared to the UK, the Jersey Immigration rules are much simpler and also there are appeal rights.

Even the caseworkers who work on the Jersey Immigration applications, usually work/come from the UKVI offices in the UK and they are the same caseworkers who work on the UK Immigration applications on a daily basis. We have a good working relationship with the UKVI offices in Sheffield, Liverpool, etc. and understand what the caseworkers are looking for, in the immigration application and documents submitted, hence, we can ensure a successful outcome for our Jersey clients.

We are a member of the Immigration Law Practitioners' Association (https://ilpa.org.uk/about-us/about-ilpa/). We constantly update ourselves on the practical aspects of the Immigration and Nationality Law. We make an effort to share the knowledge we gain from our practical experience with everyone, by writing visa overviews, list of documents, answering questions on our Immigration Forum and publishing articles on our Immigration Blog and sharing on our Social media pages, feel free to connect with us:
