Most of the applications filed within the UK via the Standard postal route take between 3 to 6 months for their processing by the Home Office.
It has been observed that for applications filed at the Premium Service Centres, Home Office makes a decision on the same day and your new biometric resident permit is sent to you usually within 2 to 5 business days.
1. Wish to travel outside the UK
If you wish to travel outside the UK within the next 3 to 6 months period from the date of filing your application, it is always advisable to try and file your application at any of the Premium Service Centres.
2. Obtain right to work evidence
Though as per the Immigration Rules, your rights to work continue to exist if you had one with your current leave to remain and you filed your Standard postal application before the expiry of your leave to remain, however, it has been observed that many employers are reluctant to continue employing the applicant till they see a new biometric resident permit, hence, by filing an application via the Premium service will solve this problem.
