Hello,
I need support to apply for british citizenship.
My application is complicated by the fact that I do hold a permanent residency status and have had it for more than 12 months, but I am currently out of the country, and Brexit will make the permanent residency invalid from the 1st of Jan next year.
Also I was not in the country exactly 5 years ago, but returned on the 9th of Jan 2016.
Please note that Brexit will not make Permanent Residence invalid, you can still use it to apply for Naturalisation as a British citizen till 30/6/2021. Hence, you should return to the UK as soon as possible and file your application for Naturalisation as latest by 30/6/2021 using your Permanent Resident Card. Permanent Residence card can be used for Naturalisation applications filed till 30/6/2021.
If you are unable to file your application for Naturalisation latest by 30/6/2021, then you should apply for Settled Status as soon as possible latest by 30/6/2021. Settled Status can be applied from outside the UK as well. You will lose your settled status if you have been out of the UK for a continuous period of 5 years(4 years for Swiss nationals).
We have successfully filed applications for Settled Status/Naturalisation, etc. for our clients.
